Living in Tennessee and hearing John Duncan and Zach Wamp tell it, the senators and representatives from the great state of Tennessee were getting phone calls agains this bailout to the tune of 100 to 1. From what I have heard of other "red" areas, the same can be said. With the Republicans arching their collective backs against this bailout, it really was necessary for John McCain to come in and "save the day" so to speak.
