Guinea pig breeds are largely divided into two groups, long hair and short hair. Short haired guinea pigs require the least grooming as their fur is less prone to tangling. Long haired guinea pigs will need to have their fur groomed nightly (brushing and detangling) and in some cases will also require special grooming products for removing tangles and adding shine. Other than fur length most difference between breeds is in appearance not personality.
